Savion Edwards, 5’11, G, 2019, Washburn Rural
Edwards is coming off a strong offseason running with SSA Elite and has seen it carry over to the high school season as he has been a key member of a talented group of guards at Washburn. Edwards is terrific at the defensive end, whether it’s pressuring the basketball, getting deflections or bringing heart and intensity to the floor. He helps set the pace for Washburn at both ends of the court.
Korbin Kido, 5’10, G, 2019, Topeka West
The Chargers leading scorer this season at 10 ppg, Kido is a strong, physical guard who brings toughness and steady play to the floor. He is capable of handling the ball and running the point, can knock down outside shots and is a good passer, averaging a team-high 3.1 assists per game.
Ethan Lincoln, 6’2, G, 2020, Free State @EthanLincoln23
Lincoln has put together a strong season for Free State, helping the Firebirds with his size at guard, versatility and ability to handle the ball and shoot from the outside. Defensively, he brings the ability to guard multiple positions, whether it’s a point, shooting guard or a wing. He likes to get his teammates involved and plays with intensity.
Jace Stewart, 6’2, G, 2019, Emporia @3_jaces
A tough defender who helps set the tone at that end of the floor for Emporia, Stewart is a football standout during the fall and then takes a football player’s mentality to the hardwood during the winter. He can knock down open 3-pointers, rebounds well for a guard and can handle the ball in the open floor, but his calling card as a player is at the defensive end where he locks up opponents, blocks shots and frustrates opposing players.
King Sutton, 6’6, F, 2020, Topeka @king58563007
Sutton is among the state’s premier athletes, defenders and shot blockers. He brings elite length and athleticism to the court and is quick off the floor, combining plenty of bounce and quickness. He has the ability to put the ball on the floor and attack the basket, can knock down a 15-foot jumper and is a strong finisher in the paint. However, Sutton’s calling card is his shot blocking and defensive versatility as he can switch from a big to a wing with ease.
