Cape Girardeau Central at Sikeston (Friday, 7 p.m.) – Tonight’s big showdown in the boot features the undefeated and Class 4 No. 1 Sikeston Bulldogs against 18-2 and No. 3 Cape Central in a big SEMO Conference showdown. The Sikeston Field House will be rocking tonight. The two teams met in December in the championship game of the SEMO Tournament with Sikeston winning 74-67, but Cape Central actually led by seven points at halftime. Both teams have a bevy of talented guards who can make the game fast and entertaining. The “X Factor” for Sikeston could be 6’7″ 2020 forward Trey Jenkins, who recently scored his 1,000th career point. (Prediction: Sikeston)
Trinity at Vashon (Saturday, 6 p.m.) – A big showdown in St. Louis on Saturday is the featured game of the Vashon Winter Classic. Both teams are prime contenders for a state championship in Class 3, so this is a good late regular season test to feel each other out as they could possibly meet again in the state quarterfinals in March. Vashon is ranked No. 1 in Class 3 while Trinity checks in at No. 3. Vashon is currently 16-5 while playing against a national schedule while Trinity is 17-2 with tournament championships at MICDS and Vianney to its credit. (Prediction: Vashon)
Priory at Lutheran South (Friday, 7 p.m.) – Tonight’s game will go a long way towards decided who wins the championship of the Metro League. Priory is currently sitting in first place while Lutheran South is one game behind in second place with a couple of weeks left in the season. Priory won the first meeting last month by one point in a very hotly contested game, so South is looking to get even. Priory has a nice dynamic duo in 2020 guard Charlie Ferrick and 6’8″ 2021 forward Harrison Wilmsen. South has a nice backcourt in 2019s Josiah Yaeger and Nick Wagner along with 6’5″ 2021 forward Jack Lawson. (Prediction: Lutheran South)
Tarkio at Mound City (Friday, 7 p.m.) – A very good small-school matchup between two of the top teams in Northwest Missouri. Mound City is currently 21-0 and ranked No. 3 in the Class 1 state rankings while Tarkio has a 16-4 ranking and No. 10 ranking in the latest Class 2 state poll. Mound City is coming off the championship of the North Platte Tournament. Tarko has a very good experienced backcourt to lean on. (Prediction: Mound City).
William Chrisman at Fort Osage (Friday, 7 p.m.) – A very intriguing battle on the West side of the state between two very solid basketball teams having good seasons. It is a second meeting with William Chrisman winning the first matchup at home 71-48 as they broke open a close game in the second half. They feature a strong wing player in 6’4″ 2019 Dawson Herl. Fort Osage has a well balanced team with several players to can get the job done. (Prediction: Fort Osage).
Rolla at Kickapoo (Friday, 7 p.m.) – An Ozark Conference matchup featuring two teams that have been consistently in the state rankings in their respective classes. Kickapoo is in Class 5 while Rolla is in Class 4. Kickapoo is coming off the championship of the Nixa Tournament. They feature one of the state’s top 2021 players in 6’2″ guard Anton Brookshire, who can do it all. Rolla fields another strong team led by 6’2″ 2019 guard Alec Buhr. (Prediction: Kickapoo).
