Taevon Pierre-Louis, 6’5”, Lorain
In tandem with his championship-contending crew at Lorain, Pierre-Louis has been on a tear in the latter part of the season. The JUCO recruit scored 34 points in three-straight games recently, earning him our Prospect of the Week honor. Pierre-Louis combines an ability to put it on the floor with elite power. Able to bully other bigs for position on rebounds.
Eddie Colbert, 6’6”, Whitmer
Gillette College in Wyoming entered Colbert’s offer sheet this week, joining Northwood and Lourdes. He’s a talented forward prospect that can do a little of everything. Facing up from beyond the arch, Colbert is a threat to either shoot it or put it on the floor. Gets to the rim in a limited amount of dribbles. Athletic rebounder — and very active on the offensive glass, especially — with fantastic hands. Blocks shots and can defend in space. Elite Division II prospect in our eyes.
CJ Karsatos, 6’8”, Upper Arlington
Karsatos is a skilled face-up forward that can put it on the deck and make a play or shoot from the outside. His versatility suggests potential as an offensive weapon. Has become increasingly more aggressive on rebounds. Moves his feet pretty well laterally. We like his versatility as an on-ball screener because he can roll or pop. Air Force and UT-Martin have offered.
Philip Alston, 6’5”, Westerville North
Alston is a very athletic power forward with an impressive and developed frame. With offers from Air Force, Cedarville, Walsh, Tiffin, Mercyhurst, and Concord, Alston has options. He gets off the ground in a hurry and makes his presence known on the glass. Has some ability when it comes to facing up. Runs the floor very well.
Terin Kinsway, 6’5”, Delaware Hayes
Kinsway is a physical specimen with a nice shooting touch from the outside. He can also put it on the deck and carve space in a congested paint. Elite strength. Uses his spin move and pro hop very well around the basket. Can move his feet and defend wings, too. Malone and Indiana Tech have offered, per 270 Hoops.
Garrett Powell, 6’7”, Springboro
Powell is a big body at 6’7”, that’s what jumps out first. But he’s a really sound, well-rounded basketball player, too. Uses his size inside to make an impact on the defensive glass and as a slasher. Powell can also shoot it pretty well in the mid-range. Surprisingly good ball-handler and decision-maker. Comfortable with the ball everywhere on the floor. Florida College, Christian Brothers, and Thomas More have offered Powell.
Na’Elle Simmons, 6’7”, Beechcroft
Simmons pulled in an offer from Central State this year, his first. The wiry forward uses his wingspan and mobility to defend in space. Simmons both blocks shots on close-outs and around the rim. His upside is in that defensive ability, athleticism, and length. Developing mid-range shooter. Might be a year or two away, but we like Simmons in the long-term.
AJ Garrett, 6’5”, Purcell Marian
Garrett is a young senior who hasn’t quite reached his full potential — which is exciting considering he’s leading Purcell in points, rebounds, and blocks. Finishes, rebounds, and blocks shots with bounce. Garrett is remarkably quick off the ground. Makes skilled spin moves and other quick adjustments in the post to score. Can attack on the face-up. Should be able to defend several positions at the next level because of his ability to move.
Sam Towns, 6’7”, Pickerington Central
Towns is a pick-and-pop big who impresses with his ability to defend in space. Seems to be just scratching the surface when it comes to making a play off the dribble, which would unlock a lot of potential. Solid rebounder. Soft touch inside and is effective going over the shoulder. Good feel for a big. Forced to sit the rest of the season after transferring from Springfield.
Mike Knoll, 6’7”, Buckeye
It feels like Knoll is going to wind up as an absolute gem for a local college. Legitimate size and ability to protect the rim combined with a fluidity. Knoll can both shoot the ball and get to the rim on straight-line-drives. Powerful athlete. He can defend 4s and 5s. Knows how to fit into a team structure.
