Marcus Libman 6’1 PG/SG 2020 Pinnacle
Libman has seen an increased role due to the injury of Trent Brown. Brown is back. However, Libman is one of the top on-ball defenders in 6A and is a consistent shooter from deep. Libman will need to continue his strong play in order for Pinnacle to win their second straight state championship.
Marques White 6’3 SG 2019 Brophy
White is one of the top on-ball defenders in the state and does all of the little things to ensure that the team is successful. Brophy, as a collective unit, is solid. They don’t make many mistakes and they play hard. White is a key part of that. He sets the tone for the group and will need to continue to do that in order to keep this team alive.
DeAndre Henry 6’7 PF 2020 Mountain Pointe
Henry might prove to be the deciding factor as far as whether or not Mountain Pointe wins a state championship. The group is back to full strength and Henry has been the unsung hero all year. While Khalid Price has earned his attention and love, Henry has quietly put together a solid season. He competes on the glass and is an enforcer in the paint. He makes game winning plays. His influence could separate Mountain Pointe from the rest of the 6A competition.
Vean Simon 6’2 PG 2019 Chandler
Simon has set the tone for this Chandler group due to his high basketball IQ. He is a quality on ball defender who puts his teammates in spots where they can be successful. He is a pass first guard who has done a great job of facilitating. Simon is imperative to the success of Chandler and will need to continue to play mistake free basketball for them to make a deep run in the tournament.
Alec Byran 6’6 SF/PF 2019 Chaparral
Bryan has been essential to Chaparral due to his ability to score the basketball from anywhere on the floor. He is shooting the basketball at a high percentage inside and outside the three. Further, he does not need the basketball in his hands for a large portion of the game in order to make an impact.
Ricardo Sarmiento 5’11 PG 2021 Cesar Chavez
Sarmiento complements Ty Ty Washington extremely well. He is a solid on ball defender who makes good decisions with the basketball. He facilitates well and shoots it well from deep. Sarmiento is the glue to this team as he locks up on defense and gets everyone involved while being a proven scoring threat.
Patrick Herrera 6’1 SG 2021 Skyline
Herrera has been the most lethal scoring threat for Skyline this season. While averaging nearly 2 three pointers per game, he has also proven that he can make plays inside the paint. He is shooting the basketball at a high level from everywhere on the floor and has been aided greatly by the strong play of Dayton Harris.
