Pinnacle took on Chaparral for the third time this season. Pinnacle had won both of the match-ups this season and as I predicted, Pinnacle won the third and won the State Championship. Nico Mannion looked impressive, as always, and had the highlight dunk of the night. The final score: 83-64.
This capped off a historic high school career for Pinnacle’s Nico Mannion. Mannion is the first and only Gatorade Player of the Year winner to win the award and play the next season with that same team. Mannion has led Pinnacle to two straight state championships and they will truly miss him as he graduates this year and will continue his basketball career at The University of Arizona, playing alongside his best friend, Josh Green from IMG Academy.
