Pinnacle: Tosh Baker
Baker is a junior, and he does not need to score the same way as many of his teammates do in order to win games. He averages around nine a game, but is most effective on defense and rebounding. A large body that is hard to move at the post, he can play with the most physical of forwards and centers, and block shots near the rim when necessary. He will be needed against Perry, who is extremely tall all-around.
Perry: Dylan Anderson
The lone freshman mentioned, Anderson has already made an impact on the Puma varsity team. He is one of many extremely tall players Perry can throw at opponents. He can score from all parts of the floor, and is quick enough to lock up on defense. It will be interesting to see how he and the other big players manage defense against Pinnacle’s guards and wings.
Chaparral: Alem Huseinovic
Huseinovic is the only top-scorer of the four teams that is not a senior. He averages just over 14 points per game, scoring well from the guard position. Hamilton has plenty of big guys, including seniors Tyler Curvey and Hayden Quinn, that can drive from the wings, and Huseinovic’s defense will be crucial to keep them out of the paint. His threes, whether they go in or not, will make a big impact.
Hamilton: Omar Knight
The Huskies are extremely senior-led, and the majority of their offense comes from the captains. However, Knight is somebody that can make plays, especially shooting from the outside, when the other older guys are covered and he is needed. Expect him to have some big-time shots at some crucial moments tonight.
