Here is a five-man report on the on-floor players from each team that made this game one of the most exciting matchups of the season.
Heath Abrahamsen Community Christian point guard
Heath Abrahamsen’s best basketball came when got the ball anywhere on the perimeter from the catch. When set up, he could shoot the lights out spotting up or take an easy dribble to set up a shot and knock it down. He got hot early, hitting three 3-pointers and drawing a 3-point shooting could in the first ten minutes of the game, helping the Royals get out to a 22-9 lead. He has exceptional footwork and can burst out of a stationary position, making him a task to any defender in a man. He lad all scorers with 25 points.
Josh Martin Community Christian forward
Josh Martin had his height and length to put himself just out of reach of the Centennial defense. He has a well-developed mid-range game and can score not only in post-up situations, but can go to work from the high post to score as well. He also played well in Community Christian’s zone defense as an anchor on the bottom to cover the wing and the lane. His length forced Centennial scorers to resort to forcing shots they weren’t comfortable with as they were unable to produce much in the lane.
Salae Woodley 2019 Oklahoma Centennial guard
Salae Woodley was impressive for the Bison as he stepped up in big ways. He hit a few tough, head-turning shots when the Bison were down in the first half and put the pressure back on the Royals. He helped to pull the Bison out of a hole with his quick release and drive to score, overcoming a 14-point deficit to tie game up in the third quarter.
Moun’Tae Edmundson Jr. Oklahoma Centennial point guard
Moun’Tae Edmundson Jr. rose to the occasion on Saturday when he scored 24 points for the Bison. He played out of his mind in the third and fourth quarters, especially to put the Bison back into a position to take the win. He played tough defense and used his next-level speed to win the battle on fast-breaks. The Bison kept CCS from getting into a comfortable position on the floor and Edmundson was a big part of that. With his high motor, he was able to keep contain all game.
Ky Menifee Centennial point guard
Ky Menifee was en Fuego in the third quarter to lend to Centennial’s comeback. Most importantly, he scored 10 points in that quarter alone and knocked down the go-ahead 3-pointer from the corner. Menifee has a sneaky-quick shot release and has to be kept in check at all times form a defensive standpoint. He also made great passes and kept turnovers out of the equation for the Bison.
