Lets take a look at the first semifinal game of the night in this article. The Hoggard HS Vikings advanced to the Conference Game with a 47-26 victory over West Brunswick HS.
MVP : Trey Clucas (2021) – Hoggard HS
Clucas came alive in the 2nd half for the Vikings and finished the night with 16 points. Clucas 6’2 left-handed guard came into Hoggard HS this past season after attending Cape Fear Academy. Clucas really excels as a pitcher on the baseball diamond for the Vikings.
Best Underclassmen : Jadyn Parker (2020) – West Brunswick HS
Parker 6’7 has a long and slender frame with a low shot release. Parker needs to add weight to his frame and has a good skill set on the floor. Parker blocked several shots in the paint with his long wingspan. Parker finished the night with 11 points. Teammate Makoa Surigao along with Parker give the Trojans some solid pieces to build on for next season.
Missing Out of Action : Brady Rankin (2021) and Kris Gibbs (2021) – Hoggard HS
Rankin was held out of the game with a fracture in his thumb. Gibbs 6’2 undersized post came down sick during warmups and decided not play.
Slow start : This game was really ugly in the first half with neither team wanting to score the ball. West Brunswick HS took a 12-11 halftime lead after both teams combined to score a total of 3 points in the 2nd quarter. The Trojans had that kind of night and scored just 2 points in the final quarter.

The Trojans fall to (14-12) on the season. The Trojans look to be headed towards maybe the Durham area for a opening round road game next week in the Class 3A playoffs.
