The predominately small Granger team could not penetrate but when they did they had a hard time finishing. The slow pace was keeping Granger in and in a mater of possessions Herriman exploded with easy buckets and Granger could not keep up. Herriman has a handful of players that have potential at the next level. Granger has a PG that could be electric at the right school at the next level.
True Contender
Herriman is a true contender in 6A. They have Blake Freeland and Kase Petersen who will be able to deal with the height of teams like PG or AF. If LeGrand Burgess can be a consistent threat from the outside they could have major action. Jael Vaughn had a good game, but he will need to control the tempo and not out run the coverage if they want to compete with the top tier teams.
Zone
Watching Herriman play a few times this year I will say that they look great in a zone. It allows Jael to gamble or play up because they have great protection with their bigs. They also have a few guards that can defend one-on-one in the zone. This could be nteresting moving forward as they will likely face Pleasant Grove.
RV
If there is an NWAC coach out there that needs a high intensity PG that is lightning quick. Look no further Roulrvee Vann is that player. He is undersized but he does not play undersized at all. He moves well without the ball and if the ball is in his hand he has the potential to be electric. He also doesn’t depend on making 3-pointers to score.
