This being the first update, we have had kids come from unranked to highly ranked and others have made moderate movements up the rankings. Here are 2022’s players who have gone from unranked to ranked in this first update:
Brandon Rayzer-Moore, Jeffersontown (Unranked–>3) – Moore is the real deal as far as potential goes. We took a lot of heat for not having him ranked in the first rankings we did but without having seen him at that point, it’s hard to rank a player based on word of mouth. Make no mistake, Rayzer-Moore is going to be hanging around the top of the 2022 rankings for a long time.
Gavin Wimsatt, Owensboro (Unranked–>26) – One of the best players on the best team in the 3rd region, Wimsatt enters our rankings at 26 and could be moving up again in the next update. Averaging 10.1 points and 6.4 rebounds for the Red Devils, he’s also shooting 50% from the field in his freshman campaign.
JuWuan Northington, Manual (Unranked–>27) – Northington is built like a tailback, stocky and strong, he uses his strength to bully the opposing players to the rim and finishes through contact well. In the 7th region, JuWuan averaged 7 points and 6 rebounds per game at the varsity level while being a major impact player at the freshman and JV level.
Caden Veltkamp, South Warren (Unranked–>28) – Veltkamp is a big kid who also plays quarterback in football but could be a better basketball prospect long term. If Caden keeps growing, he could be a force on the court. As it stands, he averaged 9 points and 3 rebounds for the Titans as a freshman and will only get better as his body fills out and he adds muscle.
Chase Alderman, Rowan County (Unranked–>38) – Averaging 9 points and 4 rebounds for a good Rowan County team that is still trying to get to Rupp Arena, Alderman is a taller wing built like his teammate Mason Moore. The 4th option for the Vikings as a freshman, Alderman will only keep improving as he grows and develops his game.
