We have looked at some ‘oops moments’ in our class of 2019 and 2020 rankings. Now we will take a look at 7 sophomore athletes that we underranked and could be classified as an ‘oops moment’.
Keyon Menifield (5’8″, PG, Flint Beecher)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #21
Menifield is like a stick of dynamite with the ball, just waiting to explode. He’s incredibly fast getting up and down the floor. Menifield can take his man off the dribble and dish to a teammate or finish at the rim.
Julian Lewis (6’4″, SG, Ann Arbor Huron)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #22
Lewis is the type of player that leaves opposing coaches scratching their heads looking for a weakness. He’s a good shooter and passer who looks over top of the defense. Lewis appears to be a much improved ball handler as well.
Andrel Anthony Jr. (6’1″, SG, East Lansing)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #33
Anthony is one of the best sophomore 3 point shooters in the state. Not many players can match his overall athleticism. Anthony can light up a scoreboard at any time duribg a game.
Damon Terrell (6’4″, PF, Communication Arts & Media)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #40
Terrell just keeps putting up big numbers this season. He’s been a consistent double-double threat in every game. Terrell is one of the top rebounding forwards in the class.
Trip Riemersma (6’3″, SG, Zeeland East)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #41
Riemersma has been a consistent scoring threat all season. He’s an excellent shooter and a physical player who likes to finish through contact. Riemersma is a top notch rebounder from the perimeter.
Mak Manciel (5’11”, SG, Detroit Country Day)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #50
Manciel is turning into a big time scorer from the off guard position. He’s a solid defender with good hip movement and quick feet. Manciel is a rapidly improving player whose ranking could rise quickly.
KJ Rai (6’4″, F, Okemos)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: Unranked
Rai is a very versatile forward. He can make plays on the perimeter with his defense and his shot making. Rai can also step in the paint and match up physically with bigger post players.
