At first glance people might have thought that PG had the advantage with their size because of Matt Van Komen. Well, people were right! The thing that people don’t see at first glance is that Pleasant Grove has some great guards in Kawika Akina and Casey Brown.
The Van Komen Factor
When you have a 7’4 player you should always have an advantage. The advantage that Pleasant Grove is taking is that their guards are virtually in a no help situation when they’re on offense. If a defender leaves to help it is almost an automatic dunk for Matt. It almost seems as if Pleasant Grove’s guards are underrated but the fact is they can play. They’re not just shooters either. Kawika Akina, Casey Brown and Tyler Fairbanks are a handful.
The Power of a Tough Schedule
We have seen teams out play other higher seeds and we have seen teams that are almost ready for anything that will come their way. The beauty of paying in Region 4 is that every game prepares you for the tournament. Although PG did’t lose a game they are well prepared by all types of strategies and lineups.
Going forward with the new RPI System it will only make sense for teams to play the best.
