Wilmer Hutchins held the lead for the full 32 minutes as they started off the game on an 8-2 run. The Eagles went into the locker room up seven points. However, they completely pulled away and captured their second district win of the season. Here are the unsigned seniors who performed well in the matchup:
Player Breakdown
Davian Sanders • 5’10” • PG • Wilmer-Hutchins
Sanders is one of the state’s best playmakers and he proved it tonight. He controlled the game from the get go. The small guard is blazing fast, but was always under control. He consistently saw the floor and dimed teammates throughout the game. The unsigned senior also hit three shots with his feet set from long range. He finished the game with 13 points and a bunch of assists.
Dyriel Empy • 5’9” • SG • Wilmer-Hutchins
Empy has been busting teams from long range all season long. Tonight it was no different. The small guard hit five threes en route to a team-high 24-point performance in the district win.
Anthony Nealon • 6’2” • SG • Dallas Lincoln
The unsigned guard was the only bright spot for Lincoln tonight. He was aggressive in scoring inside through traffic. Nealon also finished well in transition with eye-popping jelly layups. He scored a game-high 25 points in the blowout loss.
Other Notables…
Rashoid Lawton and Devaonte Lias were great for the Eagles tonight. They did a terrific job of playing their roles and making the right plays to help the team pull away. Lawton is a long scorer who can get to rim and score on the break. Lias is a stocky junior guard who can see the floor and make the proper assist. Both will be counted on as Hutch looks to make a state title run.
