Seniors and juniors are trying to show their teammates, coaches, and recruiters that they mean business. Freshmen and sophomores are looking to take momentum into the post season and AAU season.
Trendon Watford (Mountain Brook): Watford is a special player. This week he was announced as a McDonald’s All-American, which is one of the top overall honors for high school basketball, and he set the state record for career rebounds. Trendon had 10-11-10 and 27-12 in two games during the week.
Noah Boler (Decatur Heritage): The Lee signee has been consistent all season. He’s hard to keep off the glass, and can score from the post or perimeter for DHA. This week Noah had 21 points and 14 boards for No. 1 Decatur Heritage.
JP Robinson (Deshler): In a big matchup between Deshler and Red Bay, Robinson was the best player on the floor. Red Bay had no answer JP. The senior point guard scored at will from anywhere on the floor and finished with 27 points.
Justin Minter (Wenonah): Minter has picked it up a notch. Heading into the the Hotbed Classic, Minter posted games of 20-8-4 and 13-7-6. Justin is focused on finishing the season strong and making a run in state.
Dusty Quillen (Brooks): Quillen played extremely in the county tournament. Against Lexington, He finished with 26-12-11. If Brooks is going to make a late run, Quillen will play an important part in it.
Tommy Murr (Lindsey Lane): Murr averages over 44 points per game. This week, R.A. Hubbard decided to throw every type of coverage at Murr. Tommy finished with 59 points in the matchup.
Jayden Stone (Sacred Heart): Stone is on a mission. In the Calhoun Co tournament, Stone posted stat lines of 25-5-5 and 30-12-8. Stone scored from anywhere on the court and performed well in the clutch.
Martavius Payton (Georgiana): Payton continues to be a double double machine and oozes potential. Payton plays with energy and attacks the glass hard. This week, Martavius finished with 28-12 and 25-11.
Duke Miles (Lee-Montgomery): Duke has been on a tear in the season’s second half. He’s been one of the state’s best two way players. Against 6A Carver, Miles finished with 14 points, 12 steals, 10 boards, and 5 assists.
