They are bringing their best to attempt to win their conference and with that has been some solid performances. On Wednesday, we saw some big time performances from athletes across the state. Every team is going to need someone to step up on a nightly basis and these are who led their team on Wednesday.
Deshon “DC” Carter – Denver South
Albeit a blowout loss to Poudre the player that stood out for Denver South and was able to put up a solid game statistically is Deshon ‘DC’ Carter. Deshon finished with 25 points and made up for more than 75 percent of the team’s offense. He is averaging 13.3 points on the season and __
Isaac Tesfaye – Cherokee Trail
The junior did all that he could in attempting to pull the upset against a soaring Mullen team. The Cougars fell 66-60 but not without Tesfaye doing all that he could to leave his mark. He finished with 17 points while staying aggressive throughout the game and also recorded 12 rebounds. He leads the team in points and was the go-to on the upset attempt but can use this game as a bouncing board moving forward. Cherokee Trail has a chance to surprise some teams and his play is a reason.
Jordan Stratch – Ralston Valley
Jordan Stratch is a name that I just now came across and is having one of the best years of any player in the state. Ralston Valley is 9-4 on the season and is coming off of a win against one of the top teams in the state in Arvada West. The Senior big man did what he wanted on Wednesday night as he finished an ultra-efficient 7-9 from the field including knocking down three 3-pointers in the game which showed he has the ability to also open it up. He was feeling it and has been having these types of games all season long and is a player that should definitely be on people’s radar.
Aaron Bokol – Eagle crest
Bokol has been incredible this year as the leader of a talented Raptors bunch. He is scoring at will, shooting the ball well and in a groove heading into the new year and Wednesday was no different. Eaglecrest picked up a convincing 81-67 Centennial win that put them atop the Cherry Creek Bruins in the Centennial league standings. Bokol has been solid on the year and took his game up a level as he finished with a game-high 26 points. The Raptors have their eyes set on bigger goals and with Bokol at the helm have a good chance at at least making some noise heading into the thick of conference play.
Adontre Thompson – Manual
Senior big man Adontre is off to a double-double year in which he is up to 14.4 points and 10.6 rebounds a game. He has put up 15+ points in three straight games and topped it off with a 30-point game against Colorado Academy that has given his consideration as a player to put on our rankings that are coming out soon. What was even more impressive about his game was the fact that he only missed one shot on the night which showcases how great of a finisher he is around the rim. Colorado Academy had no answers for him and he seems to be finding his rhythm at the right time. He has good timing on his rebounding, boxes out and goes after the rebounds and once he gets it goes right up with it and teams are having a hard time figuring him out. This Manual team has some guys that can go, they just have to put it together.
