Village Christian Junior Justin Thomas: With the Village offense going basically cold in the first half, Justin was a huge reason why the team was able to stay within striking distance. He led all scorers with 25 points on the night and showed that he is a player that college programs should be tracking, at 6’5 with a nice skillset and potential, he’s a D1 prospect for sure.
Trinity Christian Senior Guard DJ Horne: Was a huge part of the Trinity offense in the first half with 7 of his 16 points coming in the 1st quarter. He is a player that can be very difficult to defend once he gets it going, to say he is a gifted player offensively would be somewhat of an understatement.
Village Christian Senior Derrick Quansah: Had a solid showing on the day, rebounded and blocked shots at high rate. He simply does what you want your big man to do, he has improved each year on the offensive end of the court and will only get better as the years go on. USC-Upstate and Western Carolina both have already offered and invited him on campus for visits.
Trinity Christian Senior Talton Jones: Helped to lead his team in scoring with 16 points on the night, he’s not necessarily known as a scoring player but has shown that he can put the ball in the bucket. Where he really makes his name known for the most part is on the defensive end of the floor using his length and lateral quickness to cause steals and deflections.
Village Christian Senior Guard Travion McCray: It was a tale of two halves for Travion, he struggled in the first half scoring just two points with alot of good looks just not falling. The 4th quarter was his show for sure, he went for 15 points in the quarter (5 made treys) including the game winning three point shot at the buzzer. James Madison was in the building to see him as he has picked up quite a bit of LM/MM D1 interest.
Trinity Christian Senior KJ Marshall: Solid throughout the day, knocked down some shots and brought some intensity to the court. D2 programs have been keeping a close eye on him, as he is an undersized guard his recruitment is slower but he will be a nice pickup for the right program.
We have to give a shoutout to Trinity Christian Forward Deumbre Ginyard and Village Christian Guard Savaj Tompkins for what they each bring to their team. Both bring a high amount of intensity on the defensive end of the floor and they play the game with an extremely high motor, you can’t do anything but respect that!
