Village Christian held the lead for the most part but Northwood would go on a run in the 4th to cut the lead down to 5, however Village would hold on and get the win 64-55.
- Justin Thomas is a name that college coaches need to go ahead and learn! He led Village in scoring with 20 points and was very efficient with his play. You won’t see or hear him say too much as he is a player that just likes to get things done and let his game speak. 6’5 with the ability to play SG and SF, he can knock down shots as well as get to the cup, most importantly he is an extremely coachable player.
- Louisville has a good player coming in Josh Nickelberry! He’s averaging about 30 PPG and is a huge part of his team offense which causes a ton of wear on the body. In this matchup in particular he worked for every bucket and hit some tough shots which will only benefit him later down the line when he’s facing different types of defenses. Finished with 25 Points
- Travion McCray is a high intensity player! The times that we have seen him play he seems to kick it in to a 2nd gear when the 2nd half begins. Knocking down threes, hitting shots from deep and playing thru contact to draw fouls. On the defensive end of the floor he was locked in, constantly applying pressure and trying to make things as hard as possible for his opponent. Finished with 19 Points on the night
- Zavian Mclean continues to show why he should have an offer! In the time we have watched Zay, he’s put together some really good performances on both ends of the floor. He can score the ball well by attacking the paint but also knocks down shots from mid and deep. His athleticism and high motor/enthusiasm for the game is what makes him fun to watch for many, some people like playing but you can tell this kid loves to hoop. Finished with 19 Points.
- An Aggressive Brandon Franklin is a solid prospect! We have watched him closely over the past years and the potential is there without a doubt. He’s go the height and wingspan at about 6’8 and a soft touch to be able to shoot the ball from deep. The next step is developing his body and toughness to be able to take his game to the next level where he will be able to contribute at WSSU.
- Village Christian Big Man Derrick Quansah is a good one! If you’re a D1 program that plays the game in the half court, it’s a no brainer to give him a look. He does plenty of the things that you would want from a big, rebounding, blocking shots and finishing inside the paint. His game still has some areas that need to be polished but overall he’s a very intriguing prospect at 6’10.
