Tuesday’s Games to Watch
Five games to watch during Tuesday’s WIAA boy’s basketball action…
Kettle Moraine (6-6) at Westosha Central (9-1)
This one has potential upset written all over it. Kettle Moraine has shown at times this season to be able to play up to the level of their competition, having hung with Arrowhead and Waukesha West. Senior guard Nate Jenkins (16.9 ppg) should give the Lasers a nice matchup against Central’s Jaeden Zackery (20.8 ppg). If Nolan Dahmen (14.5 ppg) can play well inside tonight, Kettle Moraine has a chance against a smaller Falcon lineup.
Martin Luther (9-2) at Dominican (9-4)
First place is on the line in the Metro Classic Conference. Currently 6-0 in league play, Trequan Carrington (19.5 ppg), Ace Evans (16.5 ppg), and Xzavier Jones (13.1 ppg) look to take another big step towards a conference crown. A half a game back and tied with St. Catherine’s for second place, Dominican will turn to junior forward Alex Antetokounmpo (18.7 ppg) to try and pull the upset on the No. 1 ranked team in Division 3.
Racine Case (8-3) at Waukesha West (11-1)
Intriguing non-conference matchup with rankings at stake. Trying to climb into the top 10, Racine Case features high-scoring sophomore guard Jakobe Thompson (19.3 ppg). Still looking like a major threat in Division 1, Waukesha West has arguably the most dangerous foursome in the state, headlined by David Skogman (19.5 ppg).
Lourdes Academy (10-1) at Hustisford (11-0)
Two of the top small school squads will face off in a Trailways East Conference battle. A top contender in Division 4, Lourdes Academy features the 1-2 punch of Henry Noone (19.7 ppg) and Preston Ruedinger (19.2 ppg). One of the top available seniors in the state, Justin Kuehl is averaging 24.3 ppg for Hustisford. The winner grabs sole possession of first place in the league.
Mineral Point (8-3) at Cuba City (8-3)
With Darlington still undefeated, neither team may be able to afford to fall another game back of the conference lead. Mineral Point has caught fire as of late, having won seven of eight, including victories over Milwaukee Academy of Science and New Glarus. Two top-five ranked players in their respective classes, Brayden Dailey and Isaac Lindsey combine to score over 42 points per game. Cuba City has won six of seven with their lone losses in conference play coming in heartbreakers to Darlington and Fennimore. Brady Olson leads the Cubans at 16.9 ppg.
Others: De Pere at Green Bay Southwest, Milwaukee Washington at Milwaukee King, Rio at Fall River, Waunakee at Madison LaFollette, Winnebago Lutheran at Berlin, Kimberly at Oshkosh West, Lakeside Lutheran at Lake Mills, Oshkosh North at Appleton West, Southwestern at Fennimore
