Jaylen O’Conner 2019 Edmond Santa Fe Wing
O’Conner played his best basketball of his high school career this weekend in Tulsa. The tremendous play he brought to the court all weekend long pushed Edmond Santa Fe to the Championship trophy. He shot the ball consistently well from behind the arc finding the perfect time to give the Wolves a boost. The level of play O’Conner brings on offense was superb this weekend, but when you also add in how well he defended it lets you know why he was selected as the MVP.
Ben Smith 2019 Edmond Santa Fe Forward
When Smith was locked in this weekend to attacking the basket he was one of the toughest to slow down at the tournament. Smith can disappear at times offensively when he becomes passive as we saw in the semifinal game. However, fans witnessed just how talented he is with his second-half performance in the semifinal game. Smith uses his length to get his jumper off over just about any defender. The motor of Smith is improving each game out as the confidence of his drive to the rim grows.
Brock Davis 2020 Holland Hall Forward
Davis used his athleticism, height, and length to score the basketball well in the paint. He is moving the best he ever has on the court without the ball, which is leading to more opportunities to score from looks teammates give him. Davis still has some wrinkles to work on in his game most notably a consistent jumper. We are seeing flashes of Davis starting to find it. It will be interesting to see how much he progresses over the next year as colleges take a deeper look at his game.
Bryce Thompson 2020 Booker T. Washington Guard
The ball handling of Thompson is rapidly improving making him tougher to stop with the ball in hands. He also showed off just how much he has been working on his hops. When opponents left Thompson any room he made them pay with his three-point stroke.
Trey Phipps 2020 Booker T. Washington Guard
Phipps found his stride from deep this weekend shooting the ball the best he has on Saturday. The high volume of shots Phipps gets up is dangerous when he gets hot from deep. For Booker T. Washington to win it all they need Phipps to play his best ball in March.
Chase Martin 2022 Jenks Wing
Martin is one of the best freshmen in the state of Oklahoma. Over the weekend Martin showed why he is one of the top freshmen with tremendous scoring outings. Coming off the bench Martin gives his squad a boost. He is a very smart player channeling his inner coaches son knowledge of the game. The jumper of Martin consistently fell from the Wing. Opponents have to account for where he is on the floor. Martin has a very bright future on the hardwood.
Blake Seacat 2019 Jenks Wing
The high post is where Seacat resides within the Jenks offense. He was great at pinpointing the holes within the defense and attacking. Floaters mixed in with a beautiful mid-range jumper were how Seacat scored the basketball. Off the dribble, Seacat is crafty allowing him to find ways through the cracks of the defense for points.
Micah Thomas 2019 PC North Point Guard
Thomas was one of the top scorers for the weekend. He is a high volume shooter with the ball always in his hands. He delivered a nice performance in the semifinals notching 30 points on the night. Opposing teams key on Thomas at every moment on offense. When Thomas is on fire PC North can play with anyone. Thomas followed up his 30 point semifinal outing with a 33 point showing in the 3rd place game. One thing is for sure, Thomas can put up points on any team.
Seth Chargois 2020 Union Guard
Chargois did a nice of scoring the basketball at all three levels for Union. He does not shoot a bunch but connects more often than not when he does. Chargois has a smoothness to his game mixed with toughness that helps him finish around the rim. Confidence is key with Chargois.
