With that being said, in NC, we have some special talent that are under 6 foot and doing some amazing things on the court. Let’s take a quick glance at a few of the player below 6’ that are playing at a high level.
Walkertown HS 2020 Guard Jalen Cone: He’s averaging over 26 PPG and has picked up interest and offers from quite a few D1 programs. His scoring numbers are a bit down this year but his Assist numbers are higher as he is just under 7 dimes per game. One of the attributes that catches the attention of many is his ability to play above the rim as he has very impressive athletic ability.
Northside Pinetown 2020 Guard Rashod Smith: Year after year he has put up major numbers and this season has been no different as he is averaging 27 points and 7 assist a night. Quickness and outstanding passing ability are special, he sees plays before they happen and has a gift for completing difficult passes.
Broughton HS 2019 Guard DJ Thomas: When it comes to toughness, he is one those players that plain and simply plays the game with an edge to him. We have seen him flat out dominate quite a few matchups, the most well know are his head to head matchups with internet sensation Julian Newman in which he was dominant on both occasions.
Smithfield Selma HS 2019 Guard Anthony Council: He recently was honored for scoring his 1,000th career point, in that he went for 51 points. Yes you read that right, 51 points in a matchup with West Johnston, at 5’9 ish with nice quickness he is averaging over 30 PPG and will be a player that colleges at the JC or even D2 level should be tracking.
Pender HS 2021 Guard Khalil Marshall: A just under 20 PPG, Marshall is a player that has shown he can score the ball at a very high level in his first two seasons of varsity basketball. He’s a crafty player that keeps defenders guessing due to the amount of moves and counters he has in his arsenal, once he gets going scoring wise, he is a tough player to contain.
