Adam Miller (Morgan Park)
Current Ranking: #1
Travel Team: Mac Irvin Fire
Miller is the top overall prospect in the junior class. He has excellent size for position at 6’4” along with explosive scoring ability. The Morgan Park standout has burst off the bounce and speed in transition which make him difficult to stop from getting to the rim. He has improved as a shooter over the last year.
DJ Steward (Whitney Young)
Current Ranking: #2
Travel Team: Meanstreets
Steward is a smooth 6’2” point guard that has elevated his game this season since transferring over from Fenwick. The junior is a plus shooter and has definitely shown that off being consistent from three throughout the year. Also a plus pull up shooter. Slick ball handler who manipulates ball screens and is slithery with the rock in his hands.
Tyler Beard (Whitney Young)
Current Ranking: #3
Travel Team: Meanstreets
Beard is a combo guard that broke out over the summer. He was spectacular against the best competition in the country at Nike Elite 100 Camp. That continued into July where he played well with Meanstreets. The Whitney Young guard is a strong combo who brings toughness to the table. Best attacking downhill and getting to the rim. Shown flashes as a passer.
Ahron Ulis (Marian Catholic)
Current Ranking: #7
Travel Team: Meanstreets
Ulis has been super consistent over the last year and when Marian’s other guard scorer left he has stepped up even more in that department. What this junior brings to the table is a high basketball IQ and feel for the game. Makes sound decisions with the ball setting up others in both the half court and in transition. Picks his spot to score effectively.
Ray’Sean Taylor (Collinsville)
Current Ranking: #12
Travel Team: Gateway Illinois
Taylor is an underrated combo guard in this class. The metro east guard can really score it. He impressed us all spring and summer. That continued through the first half of the season. Stocky and compact guard with quickness off the bounce. Gets to and finishes at the rim. Capable shooter. Athletic junior!
Reggie Strong (St. Joseph’s)
Current Ranking: #16
Travel Team: Young and Reckless
Strong is a long and rangy point guard. The lefty is a slick handling junior that gets in and out of traffic with his handles. Takes quality angles and is an adept mid-range pull up jump shooter. Potential on the defensive end with his lateral quickness and anticipation.
Marcus Watson (Morgan Park)
Current Ranking: #17
Travel Team: Mac Irvin Fire
Watson is a fast guard that loves to push the pace. He gets out in the open floor about as good as any guard in the state. The Morgan Park junior is almost like a punt returner weaving in and out of defenses. Pesky on ball defender that creates turnovers.
Donovan Newby (Bloom)
Current Ranking: #28
Travel Team: Illinois Wolves
Newby has been a rock solid presence at the point for Bloom this season. He doesn’t have many mistakes instead making the correct decision getting the ball to his many weapons. Capable shooter as a scorer.
