Let’s take a look at some of the state’s top uncommitted 2019 big/forward talent that is still available to be recruited that stands 6’5’’ or taller.
Jarrett Hensley (Leavenworth)
After a summer with Mokan Elite and a change in high schools, Jarrett is putting together a solid senior campaign.
The 6’7’’ forward is able to use his length well while driving to the basket, oftentimes getting the ball up on the glass or rim before his defender can recover. This size also assists him a lot in the midrange game, as he shoots over smaller perimeter players with ease.
Jarrett is very productive from the free throw line and in and has also shown an ability to score with his back to the basket.
Cam Clausing (El Dorado)
The 6’5’’ undersized five man is a nice blue collar player who is tough on both sides of the ball.
He has good footwork down low and rebounds well for his size, using his motor to track down 50/50 balls.
Despite the struggles from El Dorado, he was able to have a breakout offensive performance against Rose Hill, scoring 24 points and leading his team to victory.
Abdramane Camara (Sunrise Christian PGB)
As a foreign postgrad player who hails from Mali, Africa, Camara has the potential to be a big impact player for a school next year.
At 6’9’’, he can handle the ball decently for his size and hit a few outside shots, more comfortably in the mid-range area.
He has good hands and feet and is in the process of developing a good feel for the game to accompany his solid fundamentals.
Mason Thiessen (Inman)
Mason has been a major stock riser as he played some really solid basketball over summer during AAU season.
The 6’8’’ forward has good touch, can stretch the floor, or play with his back to the basket.
Also being a football player, Mason does not shy away from contact or physicality and makes his presence felt rebounding the basketball.
He has a chance to really help a smaller school right away or make a bigger splash in the sport if he decides to go the junior college route.
Kael Kordonowy (Maize South)
At 6’7’’, Kael is the five man for Maize South and has deceptive strength and physicality in the post.
He is a good rim protector and rebounder, using his length to disrupt shots and get out of area rebounds.
He has shown flashes of being really solid from the midrange area as he continues to develop his game. Outside of basketball, Kael has been described to me as a genius, scoring a 35 on his ACT.
Josh Osborn (Derby)
Josh recently measured at 7 feet flat without shoes, definitely a big allure for many schools.
He boasts good touch around the rim, solid rebounding with his length, and great hands.
As he continues to work on catching his body up to his skill fundamentally, he will continue to grow as a player and go from being a good player to being a phenomenal one in two years.
Dovydas Pinskus (Sunrise Christian PGB)
Dovydas is a highly versatile prospect at 6’7’’ as he is physical enough to guard small five men and moves well enough to step out on the perimeter and guard 3’s and 4’s.
He is a talented shooter and is comfortable taking his man to the basket, with solid handles, and the ability to finish. He currently holds an offer from Chicago State and will be a great prospect for D1’s to look at in the Spring.
