Thursday’s Games to Watch
Three key games to watch during Thursday’s WIAA boy’s basketball action…
Brookfield Academy (9-2) at University School (6-5)
This one has Midwest Classic Conference title implications at stake. At 5-0 in league play, Brookfield Academy is a half game out of first place behind Saint John’s NW Military Academy (6-0). The Knights are led by junior sharpshooter Aidan Clarey (19.3 ppg). Needing a win to keep their conference championship hopes alive, University School (5-2) will look to senior guard Dalan Henderson (16.0 ppg).
McFarland (8-4) at East Troy (10-1)
Trevon Chislom (22.2 ppg) and the Spartans will look to hand East Troy their first loss in Rock Valley play. After reaching the state tournament last season, East Troy is on the verge of wrapping up a conference title, currently sitting with an 8-0 record. The Trojans are led by junior forward A.J. Vukovich (27.2 ppg).
Kimberly (11-2) at Kaukauna (10-2)
This game could very well decide the Fox Valley Association. Both squads are tied atop the conference standings. In the first meeting, Kimberly raced to an 85-64 win at home. The Papermaker trio of Jake Buchanan (18.8 ppg), Levi Borchert (17.7 ppg), and Reed Miller (12.8 ppg) has been strong this season, but Kimberly has dropped two league games to teams outside the top four. Donovan Ivory (20.7 ppg), Logan Jedwabny (16.9 ppg), and Keaton Ferris (16.2 ppg) will be out for revenge for the Ghosts.
Others: Xavier at Menasha, Barneveld at Pecatonica
