The Progression
- Negative degree weather, great night for hoops.
- The atmosphere at Nevis was great. Gym had it’s unique look and the locals packed the gym.
- Ben Jourdan was the Mustangs ex-factor. The junior had 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists is a key third producer.
- This was a key win for the Mustangs because they had lost six games early in the year but have since won five of eight including this win over nine-win Nevis. A big boost of confidence.
- Loved watching Nevis 6-foot-2 junior Luke DeWulf work on both ends of the court. Luke totaled 19 points and eight boards shooting 8 of 13 field goals. Played at the arc and inside, gave all he had.
- Nevis Youth. Derek Lindow is about a six foot sophomore point guard with does a fantastic job of creating high percentage, comfortable shots for teammates. Love his vision and poise, had eight assists. Eddie Kramer is the freshman shooter (3 3s).
- Stueven had a huge first half and then Mason Johnson of Northome/Kelloher took care of the open space in the paint. Mason finished the game with 23 points and 11 rebounds shooting 11 of 17 from the field. Johnson was too strong to keep from taking balancing shots including a three.
- Adnew Stueven is a multi-sport star well recognized for his ability as a runner but this senior can hoop too. Nevis had issues keeping the strength and agility of Adnew away from the hoop. He finished the game with 23 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists for a triple double. Shot 8 of 14 from the field and 6 of 8 from the line. Stueven is raw but the potential is there.
- Michael Landquist. By now I’m sure you’ve heard about Michael, a Nevis senior big that was in a terrible car accident last March that left people fearing the worst. I’m more than happy to tell you that Michael played in this game on Friday scoring four times and fighting for some boards. He’s playing at about partial health right now and is only on the floor for a few minute stints but just seeing him on the floor was awesome. A testament to what heart and will can accomplish. Great to see you out there Michael!
