Pikeville Signs Two and Other Commitments
- South Laurel’s JJ Ramey committed and signed with Pikeville last week. Ramey is a super athletic wing with a chance to be a really good college player for Coach Kelly Wells. Ramey is averaging 18.5 points and 6 rebounds per game while shooting 45% from 3 for the season.
- Joining Ramey in the Bears’ signing class is Korbin Spencer of Elliott County. Spencer is one of the state’s top scorers this season after returning from a year spent at Hargrave Military Academy. Korbin announced his commitment to UPike over the weekend and should sign in the near future.
- Washington County Senior Cameron Willis committed to Tusculum University earlier this month.
- Taylor County’s Senior TreVon Smith committed to Tallahassee Community College earlier this month.
Several join the 1,000 Point Club
Over the last month or so, many Kentuckians have reached the 1,000 career point mark. They are (in no particular order):
- LaRue County’s Anthony Adkins
- Henry Clay’s Marques Warrick
- South Laurel’s Matt Cromer
- Collins’ Dayvion McKnight
- Cumberland County’s Dawson Smith
- Burgin’s Cameron Hurst
- Mercer County’s Carter Baughman
- McCracken County’s Jackson Sivills
- Madisonville-North Hopkins’ Ksuan Casey
- Simon Kenton’s Kelly Niece
- Waggener’s JJ Kalakon
1,500 Career Points
- Mayfield’s Carson Guthrie now has over 1,500 points and 850 rebounds for his career.
- Carson’s twin brother Connor Guthrie is up over 1,500 points and 500 career rebounds.
- Breckinridge County’s Kobe Poole hit the 1,500 point mark on January 8th
2,000 Career Points
- Scott County’s Diablo Stewart scored his 2,000th career point last week. Diablo started his career at Franklin County before making the move to the Cards last season.
- New Pikeville Bear Korbin Spencer hit the 2,000 point mark early this month.
3,000 Career Points
- UHA’s KyKy Tandy recently went over 3,000 for his career.
1,000 Career Wins
- Scott County’s Billy Hicks won his 1,000th game last week. He becomes the first ever coach in Kentucky to reach the 1,000 win mark.
All A Champions Crowned
- Tandy was also named the MVP of Kentucky’s All A State Tournament this weekend after leading his team to a championship over Lexington Christian. Congrats to the Blazers for winning the All A!
McDonald’s All-American Nominees
- It’s old news at this point but the following Kentucky Seniors were nominated for the McDonald’s All-American Game: Trinity’s David Johnson, UHA’s KyKy Tandy, Johnson Central’s Jacob Rice and Pendleton County’s Dontaie Allen.
College Visits:
- Ballard Senior and reigning Player of the Week Walter Johnson Jr. took a visit to Vincennes (Juco) over the weekend. He will visit Kentucky Christian next weekend.
- John Hardin’s Alex Matthews and Preston Murrell along with Elizabethtown’s JaQuais Franklin all visited Lipscomb last week.
- Ryle’s Zach Benton has taken visits to Dayton and Wright State in the last few weeks.
