Minnesota Valley Lutheran vs Thorp: Jake Kettner vs Ethan Reis. Ethan is the leading scorer for Thorp and the player with the most size to match-up with Kettner, a jack of all trades monster number producer. Kettner – a USF signed wing – is scoring about 20 a contest right now while also leading the team in assists and boards. MVL has greatly improved as a unit around Jake while Reis is the best player within the Thorp system.
Lake City vs Clear Lake: Bailey Blanchard vs Reid Gastner. Both Bailey and Reid are wing forwards in the area of 6-foot-4/6-foot-5. Both have skills to do things away from the basket but they also have skills. Nathan Heise is the playmaker for Lake City but Reid scores 14 a game and handles many roles. He will have to defend at a high level this Saturday because Blanchard is a 22 plus point per game guy.
St. Croix Lutheran vs Whitefish Bay: Zach Longueville vs Jayden Jackson. These are sophomores on teams just under .500 that have stepped up to be scoring leaders despite their youth. Both are about 6-foot-1/6-foot-2 with Jackson scoring 14.5 a night and Longueville 17 plus a game. Zach is a good passer but an ever better shooter. Jackson will rank with the best of Wisconsin’s sophomore class prospect wise.
Rochester Mayo vs Waupun: Marcus Domask vs Gabe Madsen. This will be one of the best match-ups of the day. Gabe is a 6-foot-5 guard scoring 26-27 a contest and Domask is putting up 29 a game at 6-foot-6. Marcus will rebound a bit more, Gabe will create for others a bit more. It’s likely that both Gabe and Mason Madsen (averages 21 a game) will work against Domask but Marcus vs Gabe is what will be talked about coming into the game. Marcus has signed with Northern Kentucky and Gabe has five D1 offers at this time.
Apple Valley vs Brookfield East: Riley LeTourneau vs Mark Possis. Both players are 6-foot-4 wings and both lead their team in scoring. LeTourneau is one of the breakout players in the state of Wisconsin averaging 22 plus a night and leading his team to a 9-3 mark against a tough schedule. Possis is seeing his first extensive varsity action and has become a consistent point producer at 13 a game.
Minnehaha Academy vs Onalaska: Jalen Suggs vs Carson Arenz. Carson is a top 30 area junior in the state of Wisconsin scoring about 17 points a game. Arenz is about 6-foot-5 and in consideration for scholarships. The guy he and/or Tyrell Stuttley could see a lot of? That would be Jalen Suggs, one of the elite guars in America. With Terry Lockett now at a prep school Jalen is doing more ball handling and distributing, and doing it well. The Redhawks will use Jalen at PG at 6-foot-4/6-foot-5 and have standout defender Kaden Johnson with Prince Aligbe to have 6-foot-4/6-foot-6 forwards and of course seven footer Chet Holmgren up front.
East Ridge vs Brookfield Central: Ben Carlson vs Ben Joplin. Ben Carlson is the third ranked prospect in Minnesota’s stacked class of 2020 talent while Ben Joplin is the third ranked sophomore prospect in Wisconsin’s high quality sophomore group. Carlson is 6-foot-10 and plays some center, some power forward for the Raptors while Joplin is 6-foot-6 and will often be his team’s biggest player (East Ridge will use five guys 6-foot-6 or bigger). Both score about 15-16 a game and grab 8-9 boards a contest.
