Kendall Brown of East Ridge (Sophomore). As the Raptor game with Brookfield Central got away, Brown capitalized on the opposition’s confusion/exhaustion with highlight plays. Scored 20 on 8 of 17 shooting with five boards.
Ben Carlson of East Ridge (Junior). Ben Carlson went Hulk on the Wisconsin kids. A double-double of 18 points (on 7 of 13 shooting) with 15 boards. Brookfield Central could do nothing with his power around the rim.
Reid Gastner of Lake City (Junior). The world loves a tough guy and on Saturday Reid was exactly that. Combining skill and physical play to score 27 points on 8 of 12 shooting plus seven boards.
Nathan Heise of Lake City )Junior). When I talk about the ability of Nathan Heise this will be the game I long look back on. A great chance to see the way Heise handles the ball and runs a team plus scores 23 points.
Chet Holmgren of Minnehaha Academy (Sophomore). Defensive Player of the Year in Minnesota? I would say so. Nobody else changes games on the defensive end like Chet does. Chet had 18 points on 10 shots, 15 boards, and seven blocks.
Jake Kettner of Minnesota Valley Lutheran (Senior). Most of the Mr. Basketball committee showed up at the 10am game to see Jake compete and he didn’t disappoint. Jake scored 33 points with a dozen boards on 11 of 17 shooting.
Zach Longueville of St. Croix Lutheran (Sophomore). Because I limited this to ten spots I have to limit the amount of Crusader spots I had out so Zach Longueville represents the group because of his 26 points on 8 of 9 field goal shooting and 8 of 9 foul shots. Add in there five threes.
Gabe Madsen of Rochester Mayo (Junior). Gabe gave the state a better look at what he’s become. Bigger at 6-foot-5 and 190 pounds plus a dribble separation/touch with range combo that led to 31 points on 12 of 25 shooting (four threes).
Jalen Suggs of Minnehaha Academy (Sophomore). Jalen seems to put forth his best performances when the spotlight is brightest. Saturday was no different. The highlights are all over social media, stat wise Jalen had 27 points on 8 of 16 shooting (10 of 12 foul shooting) plus eight assists and seven boards.
Zach Zebrowski of East Ridge (Senior). Zach scored 16 first half points putting a fire in the Raptors for a big win over a top five team from Wisconsin. Zach scored 18 points with five assists on 7 of 10 shooting
