After that the BlueJackets had trouble hitting shots from anywhere on the court, shooting 28 percent from the field and only hitting 2-of-10 shots from deep in the second quarter.
Tea Area opened the second quarter on fire shooting 60 percent in the quarter alone hitting 4-of-8 from deep. They traded baskets early in the quarter but last trailed 24-23 with 4:18 in the second before going on a 26-11 run to have a 38-28 halftime lead.
After a hot start, the BlueJackets were shooting at a 34 percent clip from the field and 33 percent from deep at the intermission compared to Tea Area’s 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from deep.
The Titans had five turnovers in the first quarter alone and would only have one in their big second quarter. They also outscored Cambridge-Isanti 17-2 in fastbreak points and 18-6 in the paint at the intermission.
The BlueJackets had some hope after going on a run to end the third quarter bringing the deficit down to 51-39 after three but would go cold in the fourth quarter shooting 25 percent and hitting only 2-of-10 from deep.
TURNING POINT: Cambridge-Isanti came out on fire in the first quarter but went ice cold while the Titans caught fire in the second quarter going on a 26-11 run.
KEY PLAY(S): The key play for the Titans was either shifting between a 2-3 zone and man while really getting into Cambridge-Isanti’s face to limit their success from deep.
STAT OF THE GAME: The Titans outrebounded the BlueJackets 55-26 and had more defensive rebounds (36) than they had total rebounds. Three Titan players had 10 or more rebounds, including Justin Hohn who had a 19 point, 11 rebounds and 10 assist triple-double. He also had five steals.
TEAM LEADERS:
For Tea Area: Hohn had the triple-double while Noah Freidel had a double-double, 21 points and 15 rebounds. Kade Stearns had 11 points and seven rebounds.
For Cambridge-Isanti: Henry Abraham led the team with 19 points and seven rebounds. Luke Malamisuro had 17 points and five rebounds.
