After a slow start, the Cardinals only found themselves down 22:15 at the end of one. St. Mary couldn’t build off the momentum from the end of the quarter and trailed by double-digits once again in the second quarter, 27-17. The Cardinals came out hot in the third quarter with their largest lead getting to as much as 12 points. They would take a 57-51 lead into the final quarter. With under a minute to go Connor Libis was fouled and made two from the line to make it 67-66. On the ensuing Blue Dragon possession, Drew Blosmo drew a foul but only managed to hit one-of-two to tie it at 67.
The next Cardinal possession, Libis was fouled once again and made both free throws to put the lead at 69-67 with less than eight seconds left.
