Here is a look at some 2019 prospects who have raised their stocks by steady performances here in 2018-19.
Diego Rivera (Miami Christian)
Highly consistent, vocal and speedy, 2019 Miami Christian guard Diego Rivera has been fun to watch all season. The 6’2″ guard has come in and replaced current Fairfield freshman guard Neftali Alvarez. Rivera put up a fight against IMG alongside his scrappy group in the SUN bracket championship in the Prep Hoops Sun Bash this past week in Tampa. He was also really good at the City of Palms late last month.
Isaad Solano (SLAM Miami)
Someone will get lucky scooping up 2019 6’3″ guard Isaad Solano. The SLAM Miami leader is quietly athletic, plays with a constant motor and a high IQ. He was as steady as they come at the Sun Bash for his team averaging 20.0 PPG. Solano has plenty of upside left in his game, something colleges will love to see.
Isaiah Palermo (Osceola)
For a Kowboys team that looks different without 2019 UF signee Omar Payne, Isaiah Palermo has taken the next step for Osceola this season. 2019 Bethune Cookman signee Josh Marte has been really good next to Palermo while 2019 forward Jaduhkiss Soto has as well. However, it has been Palermo, the 6’6″ forward who has been able to stretch the floor, fight for buckets and put his body on the line with his brute strength.
Ahmad Johnson (Charlotte)
Constant energy and aggressiveness are two aspects you always get from 2019 Charlotte guard Ahmad Johnson. The 6’3″ guard was very good in a loaded City of Palms tournament. Two days prior to the tip-off in Ft. Myers, Johnson was nearly unstoppable in a 60-53 win over Boyd Anderson with 26 points and 10 rebounds.
Brandon Farmer (The Villages Charter)
Joining The Villages last month, Brandon Farmer has been a fine addition to the Buffalo squad next to 2019 UF signee Tre Mann and tough 2019 guard Terry Ivery. Farmer shined in the City of Palms Sunshine Series win over Lehigh with 20 points. He’s a nice fit in the up-tempo offense that The Villages run and his length at 6’6″ is something that will help them plenty as the season goes on.
Kolton Mitchell (Victory Rock)
The progression and maturation of Kolton Mitchell have been evident this season. A 2019 6’3″ guard, Mitchell is playing confident, securing the ball as a lead point man and pushing it in transition early and often. A social leader, he is someone to keep a close eye on as his recruitment should increase here.
Jelal Williams (Oldsmar Christian)
I came away very impressed with 2019 6’8″ forward Jelal Williams last month at the SIAA Crossover at Victory Rock. The Oldsmar Christian senior is not afraid to attack and he uses his length as a true advantage as a rebounder and shot blocker. Williams has a nice little mid-range shot as well that suits him.
Chris Noel (Booker T. Washington)
Playing for a shorthanded Booker T. Washington unit last week at the Sun Bash, 2019 6’2″ guard Chris Noel didn’t back down and showed his effort level was there all night. He averaged 19.6 PPG and put up a fight against Miami Christian and Booker on Thursday and Friday. Noel is a super athletic and blazing fast point man.
