Devon Grant scored a game-high 34 for Lorain, but St. V had just too much talent and size for the Titans.
Senior guard Chris Painter (2019), who has committed to Malone, scored 21 to lead the Irish, including 16 in the second half.
Seth Wilson (2021) scored 17 points for the Irish, and senior Lunden McDay scored 19 for St. V, which improved to 8-2 with the win, while Lorain fell for the first time this season.
Taevon Pierre-Louis (2019) scored 14 points for Lorain, while Jordan Jackson scored 10 for the Titans.
The game drew a sellout to the Elyria Catholic Coliseum.
Grant scored 14 in the fourth quarter to help Lorain get back in the game.
The game was one of seven at the Hopskip Play By Play Classic on Jan. 5 and 6.
In other action:
St. Edward knocked off Kennedy Catholic out of Hermitage, Pa., and it’s 6-9 monster center Oscar Tshiebwe, who finished with 22 points and 20 rebounds.
Junior big man Devontae Blanton showed up in a huge way for the Irish as he was able to score both inside and outside. He finished with 23 for St. Edward.
Explosive Demetrius Terry (2019) scored 19 for St. Edward and Grant Huffman (2020) scored 10 points for the Eagles in front of a Notre Dame, South Bend, coach who came to see Huffman play.
