Garrett Siebert – Legend – 2021
Garrett is a 6’5 big man with great length and instincts around the basket. He is up to 9.6 points as a sophomore and also manning the middle at 4.7 rebounds a game. Siebert has great IQ on the defensive end, especially with getting position and keeping his hands up. He patrols the paint and uses his great size to alter shots at the rim. He was thrown in the mix right away and is a starter on a talented Legend team and is worth taking a longer look at as a top player in the state.
Dominic Marrujo – Prairie View – 2021
Marrujo is averaging 10.4 points a game as well as dishing out 2.5 assists to go along with it. He has made his impact early and is only starting to come into his own as the comfort grows. He is the second leading scorer on the team and is not afraid to take any shot which is a good sign from a young player. He is one of the team’s better playmakers as he has the ability to either set up the right play or go finish. He is a confident player as an underclassman that has a good feel for the game and lets the game come to him. One of the things that stands out is he plays the passing lanes well and is a solid on-ball defender that challenges himself on that side of the floor. Marrujo will be the go-to guy next year and is a player that the state will surely hear about moving forward.
Brennan Rigsby – De Beque – 2021
There might not be a better social media team in the state than De Beque. Everywhere you go they are showcasing how talented of a group they have and one of the main standouts is Rigsby. Rigsby is a big-time player that is leading the undefeated Dragons on the season with hopes of winning it all. He is up to 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds a game which is the best stats by any sophomore in the state. He is also getting it done defensively with steals and blocks as well. Rigsby is a player that is in a smaller classification but has a game that translates to being able to play no matter the competition and his work in the summer is paying off and why he has moved to No. 3 in the 2021 class.
Ty Robinson – Eagle crest –2021
We have Ty Robinson as the no.2 player in the class but when you see the way that he impacts the game we just might have to reconsider. As a sophomore he is up to 11.9 points and 3.4 rebounds a game on a Raptor team that will surprise many as the reason goes along. He is very athletic and strong which causes mismatches but what stands out most is his versatility. He is one of the best players in the class in the paint but he can also shoot the ball from deep which stretches the floor and gives the Raptors another weapon both inside and out. He is in a rhythm and starting to get it going and once he does, watch out.
Julian Hammond III – Cherry Creek – 2021
Hammond is leading sophomores in scoring at a whopping 20.9 points a game. He is the no. 4 player in the class and when thinking about it, this class is special. It is deep and with a player like Hammond making such an impact in only his sophomore season it makes you wonder what kind of ceiling he has. He also uses his 6’2 frame to get inside and score at will and is leading the team in rebounds (5.3 rpg) as well. Hammond has 10 straight games of scoring 15+ and having that kind of consistency and reliability as a coach is comforting. Hammond has what it takes to challenge as the top player in the state and his bid is being heard.
