Shamir Bogues • 6’3” • SG • Killeen Ellison • 2020 ????Player of the Game????
Bogues had a great non-district season and is carrying on that momentum into district play. The trim two-way lefty showed some touch from deep as he knocked down two threes when his feet were set early in the first quarter. The brother of Stephen F. Austin star guard Shannon Bogues utilized his length on the defensive end by recovering well with blocks and deflecting and intercepting passes. Offensively, the junior guard is a quiet scorer who is great in transition. He uses the backboard well for soft layins in the paint over taller defenders. Bogues scored a game-high 25 points in the win.
Quinton Ford • 6’4” • SG • Copperas Cove • 2019
Ford has also had a solid season up to this point. However, it was a quiet performance for the athletic and talented swingman. He still was able to show some factors in his game that translate. He has a reliable perimeter stroke, is fast in the open floor, and gets off the floor well to finish at the rack and elevate for highlight blocks. The unsigned senior is a nifty ball-handler through full court pressure, but at times seemed rushed and did not make the right decisions with his passes. Ford scored nine points in the loss.
Tyrese Taylor • 6’8” • C • Copperas Cove • 2019
Scouts, coaches, and spectators love the size and strength of Taylor. The unsigned senior is a powerful, physical post player in the middle who sees the floor and is active on the offensive glass. However, he lacks touch and feel inside. Taylor needs to improve on finishing through contact inside and converting at the foul line. He scored 11 points and grabbed multiple rebounds in the loss.
