I forgot to include these articles earlier in the week. Lets get this started with some of the 2019 Top Performers from the Palmetto State. Prep Hoops took in the first 5 games of the day at the 26th Annual Rotary Roundball Classic at North Charleston HS.
Travelle Simmons – Goose Creek HS (pictured on front #3)
Simmons was on key here today for the Gators. Simmons scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the victory over First Baptist. Simmons shot the ball well (9-14) and also dished out 6 assists. Simmons is a pesky on the ball defender. Simmons was the catalyst in the win for the Gators.
Alonzo Ford – Goose Creek HS (pictured on front #5)
Ford is just a guard who stuffs the stat sheet without all-out effort on the floor. Ford a left-handed guard finished with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Ford changes speeds well with the ball and gets into the gaps. Ford is a great team player.
Michel Dukes – First Baptist
Dukes is the best available guard left in the 2019 class in Chucktown. Dukes ran for 8,762 yards on the gridiron and had 117 career touchdowns. Dukes has over 20 plus scholarship offers for football. Dukes 5’11 is extremely on the floor with great speed in the open court. Dukes a mainstay for the Hurricanes the past 4 years finished with 24 points in a overtime loss to Goose Creek HS.
Joe Powell – First Baptist
Powell plays in the shadow of Dukes here for the Hurricanes. Powell can play on the on the ball or even off ball. Powell is crafty with the ball with his sharp passing skills. Powell hits open shots and can extend the defensive with his three point shooting.
Daquan Vinson – James Island Charter HS
Vinson 6’4 plays on the wing for the Trojans. Vinson plays quarterback on the football field for the Trojans. Vinson has good length and likes to shoot the turnaround jumper. Vinson must tighten up his handle seems to be best suited from 14-16 feet on the floor.
Jalen Bailey – Stall HS
Bailey was only bright spot today for the Warriors in the loss. Bailey a left-handed guard has great quickness coming around the corner. Bailey scored 15 points
