Continue ReadingThe loss in the state title game last year still stings a bit for Wilsonville, but Gabe Reichle knows the team can make it up this year. The solid 6-foot-2, 170-pound combo guard has been doing his part for the Wildcats so far this season. There have been games where Reichle has scored a lot but there are others such as Tuesday night when he plays more of a supporting role but the bottom line it’s about team goals and winning games.
Against Parkrose, Reichle had one of his more quieter nights offensively. His shot wasn’t quite clicking early but he did get a few late baskets and hit 6-for-6 from the free throw line to help Wilsonville clinch the win to capture first place in the Northwest Conference. A bit of an “off night” doesn’t concern Reichle at all.
“I’ve just got to stay aggressive,” Reichle said. “Take my shots, take what the defensive gives me and run what the offense through the team. I think it will come.”
Since the summer, Reichle has grown about an inch and has put on some muscle. College programs such as UC Irvine continue to monitor his growth and progress as the season has gone on. With recruiting pretty much on the backburner, Reichle has been honed in on continuing to improve – he notes defensively he’s stepped things up – and helping Wilsonville contest after contest.
“We just need to keep up the intensity and take every game seriously,” Reichle said. “We’ve got to keep playing together and keep playing defense. I just want to do what’s best for the team and hopefully get back to the state championship.”
Reichle currently ranks as the #14 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
