After all, the sharp-shooting 6-foot, 165-pound guard from Jesuit High School has seen tough opponents before. Williams and his Crusaders teammates have already faced practically every top team in the state and one of the best in the nation in Sierra Canyon, and you can be sure they will be ready to take on Sunset on the road for sure.
“I think the season has come along well,” Williams said. “We’ve had so many games where we don’t shoot so well, but that’s our signature to win like that as a team. We rebound, pass it, get to the line, and close it out with the little things. It’s been fun – we’ve gone into every game like we can win every one we play.”
Williams has certainly done is part. Along with teammate Justin Bieker, the senior has been one of Jesuit’s top offensive threats especially from the outside. As he noted, there have been some games where the shooting percentage hasn’t been as high but Williams has shown the ability to hit big-time shots in key moments, and has contributed with his passing and team defense when things aren’t quite falling as much as he would like.
Recruiting-wise, Williams continues to hear from a whole host of Division III programs, notably Redlands, Whitman, Pacific Lutheran, Trinity (Tex.), and Pacific University. “All those guys are talking to me,” Williams said. “It hasn’t picked up much since the summer, but I did get admitted to Redlands which I’m pretty excited about and the coach was at my game the other night. I like them a lot and he’s a great coach.”
While the early admission is certainly exciting, Williams isn’t quite ready to make any decisions and is keeping things open. His mind is set at the moment on the rest of the season, which continues tonight against the Apollos. “We have confidence in all of our guys and we trust our teammates,” Williams said. “We just have to keep our heads in every game.”
Williams currently ranks as the #51 player in the PrepHoops Class of 2019 rankings.
