Wendell Green Jr. is a perfect mold between yesterdays pass first floor generals and today’s dynamic do-it-all lead guards. He’s the type of point guard that loves to see his teammates shine. Green Jr. can drive the lane with a lightning fast crossover and find an open man with a pin point dump off. He can create space for a pass when their looks to be no opening.
Green Jr. can simply get buckets. He’s a terrific shooter with no limits on his range. Green Jr. can nail a three of the dribble or the catch. His rise and release is quick, often not even giving the defender time to react and challenge the shot. Green Jr. has nice hip movement and body control. This allows him to contort his body, yet still have control and finish at the rim. Green Jr. can finish in the paint even when challenged by bigs.
Wendell Green Jr. was one of the top 5 prospects in Michigan’s class of 2020. After 2 seasons playing high school basketball in his home city of Detroit, Green Jr. transferred to La Lumiere in Indiana. Since his transfer, his recruitment has picked up to another level. Green Jr. is steadily rising up pretty much every prospect ranking chart. Anyone who has watched him regularly during grassroots seasons understands this rise. Green Jr. has seen him consistently play with, and at times dominate, higher ranked competition
The Bottom Line
Wendell Green Jr. was one of the top 5 prospects in Michigan’s class of 2020. After 2 seasons playing high school basketball in his home city of Detroit, Green Jr. transferred to La Lumiere in Indiana. Since his transfer, his recruitment has picked up to another level. Green Jr. is steadily rising up pretty much every prospect ranking chart. Anyone who has watched him regularly during grassroots seasons understands this rise. Green Jr. has seen him consistently play with, and at times dominate, higher ranked competition.
Wendell Green Jr. has, in my opinion, been very under ranked. He is having a breakout season of sorts for La Lumiere. Division 1 schools at any level should take a long hard look at Green Jr.
