“I just attack the rim. And when I attack, I look for my guys on the perimeter or my big man on the block,” Vines told Prep Hoops after the game. “I just try to attack the rim, that’s it.”
This is not the first time we’ve seen Vines stand out. At the DMV Tip-Off in December, the athletic 6-foot-3 guard double-doubled, recording 15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals in a loss to Riverdale. Vines is a skilled and quick ball-handler who plays with an extremely high motor, and that’s what coaches love about his game.
“I’m working on my handles and shooting the ball,” said Vines of his current focus areas for improvement. “I think my shot is underrated.”
After a standout summer campaign with DC Premier Black 17U, Vines says has heard from a few schools, and mentioned Virginia Union specifically. There’s no question he has the ability to help a scholarship level program in some capacity next season. What can he bring to the next level?
“Just my high motor. And I think I can be a leader on the court as well.”
