An athletic and skilled 6’3 wing player, Reed brings versatility and the ability to play any position, 1-4. Even when his shot isn’t falling, Reed finds a way to contribute to his team, whether it’s rebounds, steals, assists or smart, heady play.
Reed spent the offseason competing for SSA Elite and has played alongside several standouts, incouding AJ Dickerson, Levi Braun and others, helping him improve his game along the way.
“Playing with SSA has helped build relationships with players and coaches,” Reed said. “SSA gave me the opportunity to compete against some of the elite talent around the country. It has helped develop the skills and confidence coming into the high school season knowing I can compete at a high level.
“This offseason and summer I worked on footwork, getting my shot off quicker, one dribble pull-up jumpers, and ball handling.”
Reed has helped lead a young team that is still a work in progress, putting up big numbers as he is averaging 21 points, eight rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.7 steals. He is shooting 51.5 percent from the field and 45.4 from 3-point range.
“We’re a young team that has battled through some adversity this year our record doesn’t necessarily tell the story,’ Reed said. “My year has been going pretty good knowing that I’m the leader of the team and that a lot of the guys look up to me.”
A fan of Russell Westbrook, Reed says the biggest influence on his basketball career to date has been Lance Carter.
“He (Carter) helped develop me into the player I am today at a young age,” Reed said.
Reed does not currently hold an offer, but has drawn interest from Nebraska Weslyn University, Concordia Uiversity, and Central.
