“I’m handling the transition day by day. It’s a little tough because I never expected to get here, but it’s life. You gotta push through it,” Hunt explained. “Being D Lo, a lot of people look up to me. Including the people on this Rock Creek team, because we’re so young.I just realized I had to put that behind me. I’m not there anymore. I had to take my talents somewhere else and perform big.”
Hunt has had several big time performances so far this season, including a virtuoso all-around outing during an improbable road win at National Christian last week. One thing that could be considered underrated about his game is his shooting off the dribble. He is also very good at consistently getting in the lane and finding the open guy. Not even if it’s a flashy pass, but always making the right play. Sometimes he can get carried away and commit a turnover or two, but he somehow always bounces back on the defensive end. Despite his reliable play all season, Recruitment has been kind of slow for the junior lead guard, who remains positive about his outlook and is taking care of his business in the classroom.
“I have a 3.6 GPA or higher All my grades are positive. As I transitioned from St. John’s I made sure school was the first priority then basketball,” Hunt stated. “I’ve got two offers from Bryant and Howard. Interest from Siena lately. Right now, I want to win with my team and then let the offers roll in hopefully during the summer.”
Hunt says his main goal at the moment is to win the Capital Beltway Championship. He is also working on getting stronger, improving the consistency of his shot, and getting back to 100% health. Hunt has recovered from an ankle injury which slowed him down earlier in the season, but is currently fighting through chest pains which are bothering him. from chest pains.
“They want to see me constantly shooting. They know I can get above the rim and hustle. They just want to see consistency with my shooting,” said Hunt of the feedback he receives from college coaches. “They also tell me to keep playing hard and lead. They understand the situation I’m in, and it’s not an easy one. They just tell me to keep pushing through it and keep being me.”
