Quinton Ford commits to UC-Riverside
On Friday night, Quinton Ford of Copperas Cove/T.J. Ford Austin announced his verbal commitment to UC-Riverside. In Ford, the Highlanders are getting a skilled slasher with elite athleticism. The 6-foot-4 swingman opens eyes in transition with his ability to finish above the rim. He has a quick first step when attacking off the wing and can knock down open shots from deep when his feet are set.
“I just really believe in Coach David and the rest of the coaching staff,” says Ford on his verbal commitment. “I know that they are about to do big things with the program and I want to be a part of that.” Ford was being recruited by schools such as: Northern Colorado, UT-Permian Basin, and UT-Tyler; but at the end of the day, he felt most comfortable with UC-Riverside.
When talking about expectations once he arrives on campus this summer, Ford states, “ I believe the coaches brought me in to be myself. They love my ability to shoot and rebound. So I will work to bring a little bit of everything to the table.”
Final Thoughts
Ford has had a great senior season up to this point. He currently is averaging around 25 points per game along with eight rebounds. Look for him to keep up the level of play and help his team clinch a playoff spot.
