The Panthers look to repeat as District Champions again and avenge a regional semi-final loss from last year. Panther Head coach Ryan Mulnix said, “Tyler is a hard working young man and has a strong passion for basketball. He is a very coachable player and is the type that would run through a wall for his teammates. Tyler has battled injuries throughout his high school and relentless work ethic has allowed him to be a valuable member of our team as a senior.”
What did you do to prepare for this season?
Daily workouts in the weight room and gym; worked on shooting, ball handling; went to exposure and prospect camps. I also focus on good nutrition.
Do you play on a travel team, if so, which one?
Yes, Lansing Prospectors for Coach Wilkerson.
What are your team goals this season?
To win I-8 Conference Champs again; and to make it to States, since we lost in the Regional Semifinals last year.
What are your individual goals for this season?
To help my team in any way, and play any role to help us win.
What do you think is your best asset on the floor?
Using my size, strength, and athleticism.
Who is your favorite basketball player and why? (Pro or college)
Russel Westbrook because of his explosiveness to the basket.
Who is the best team you have played against?
I’ve played against some really good teams. One of the best was City Rocks from New York at the Pittsburgh Jam Fest in 2017.
Who is the best player you have played against?
Drew Lowder, Point Guard from Ann Arbor Pioneer.
What are your plans for the next season?
To go to college and play at the next level. I am in the recruiting process now but haven’t committed anywhere yet.
What is the one game in the regular season that you look forward to playing?
Playing against Northwest because it’s a rivalry and is always competitive.
How do you get motivated before each game?
Watch film, review plays, focus on my goals, do a pre-game warmup, and listen to music.
What’s your favorite subject in school?
Science. I plan to go into Athletic Training or Physical Therapy in the future.
