The 6’1″ Anderson has excelled in all facets of the game while directing a nice turnaround season for the Spartans. After finishing with an 8-19 record in 2018, Anderson has led the Spartans to an 11-7 record.
“It feels good to have a winning record this year,” Anderson said. “Our team has worked hard in the offseason and I worked on my individual craft as well to be a better leader to them.”
Through 18 games, Anderson is averaging a team-high 14.6 points to go along with 3.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.2 steals a game to go along with 44 percent shooting from 3-point range and 71 percent from the free throw line. He scored a season-high 29 points in a victory over Warrenton last month as well as 19 points, three rebounds and three assists against a powerful Francis Howell team last week. Anderson has also been named to the All-Tournament Teams at MICDS and Washington.
“I feel like while I tried to work on everything as a player in the offseason, I worked the most on being a leader for my team on and off the court and leading by example,” he said. “I also think I worked on footwork for defense and individual scoring when it’s needed.”
Anderson is still hoping to attract some interest from college recruiters with his excellent performance as a senior. Some small colleges could do themselves well by taking a look at him as he has also improved his athleticism in addition to his skill level and ability to lead a basketball team.
“The three goals I had for myself going into the season were to increase my stats from last year to show that I working, lead by team to a winning record and make a name for myself so i can potentially play somewhere at the next level,” he said.
