A 6-foot point guard, Kolker prides himself on being a true floor general and playmaker for his his teammates. That’s why he’s among the state’s leaders in assists this season.
“My biggest strength from other people’s standpoint is my passing ability. I’m good at finding my teammates a lot, and I can handle it well, too. I’m a pass-first kind of player,” said Kolker, who mentioned what he’s working most to improve.
“I’m going to work on being more aggressive, attacking the basket more. And I’m going to work on defense and quickness, going against bigger people. And I’m going to be in the weight-room a lot, so I can go against bigger opponents.”
Kolker has been the starting point guard all season for the 15-9 Greyhounds, and has excelled while averaging 13 points and seven assists per game.
He broke down some team and individual goals for the remainder of the season.
“Our team goal is to win region, and I’m trying to get all-region,” said Kolker. “And I also want to make it to the state tournament and get a home game, which would be cool.
This coming spring and summer, Kolker would be heading into an important 16U offseason. Instead, he’ll play 17U with Atlanta Timberwolves.
“Their coach does a good job getting players into college and we have an exciting team,” said Kolker. “I’m just trying to get the best looks I can, and he does a good job with that.”
