The aggressive 5-foot-10, 165-pound point guard poured in a team-high 19 points and he feels that things are really starting to click for him with his game and the Broncos.
“I feel like the beginning of the season was going pretty slow but then I started to pick it up,” Briggs said. “I started passing the ball to my teammates and also started to score more and I’ve been doing a lot better since then. My jumpshot is getting better and I’m starting to shoot it more now.”
Briggs and teammate Damonte Burns split point guard duties for Parkrose and against La Salle, Briggs was in scoring mode. He hit a three early but then focused on taking the ball strong to the basket, where he finished on all sides of the rim. A fiery competitor, he was quick on defense especially on the ball and was able to get out in transition for easy buckets.
Briggs is hoping that his play will help him earn an opportunity at the college level. He’s already got a school that he’s aiming for. “I’m hoping to go to Eastern Arizona JC and then go somewhere bigger after that,” Briggs said. “I just like it down in Arizona and most of my family is down there and if they could get to see me down there, that would be pretty good.”
Like other seniors in this class, Briggs will make the decision on college when the time is right. Right now, there’s work to do. “We’re trying to make it to Corvallis this year,” Briggs said. “So we’re playing hard as a team, play more like a brotherhood, and try to get Ws. We want to get a championship this year.”
Briggs currently ranks as the #75 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings.
