A strong and athletic 6’2 guard, Jerome plays a fast paced game, looking to run in transition as often as possible. He brings good size to the floor and can see over a smaller guard to pass and is capable of working in the post. If a team matches up a bigger player against him he is quick enough to blow by and get to the bucket all the while looking to get to teammates.
Jerome spent the season traveling with his team and competed at the Creighton Team Camp and had an opportunity to see former Eudora standout Mitchell Ballock, now a standout guard for the Blue Jays.
“We played a lot of games during the summer which helped but I think the thing that helped the most was our team bonding and getting to know each other off of the court,” Jerome says. “In the off-season I mainly worked on my jumper and my outside shooting as well as finishing around the rim.”
Eudora is off to a 7-4 start this season and have climbed into the Class 4A state rankings. The Cardinals have a mix of four seniors and several juniors who get the most playing time. Jerome is averaging 16 points, five rebounds and four assists per game this season.
Jerome says his dad has had the biggest influence on his basketball career to date.
“Ever since I was a kid he would always have me out in the drive way doing drills and playing me one on one or playing around the world,” Jerome said. “He’s a big reason of where i am today.”
Jerome says he is a big fan of former Kansas guard Frank Mason and has tried to implement elements of the NBA guard’s game into his own.
“I noticed he uses his change in speed very well and I try to manipulate people with my speed as well,” he says.
Jerome has heard from Bethal, Belmont Abbey but does not currently hold any offers.
