The 5-foot-10 point guard takes his responsibilities on the hardwood serious, both on the offensive and defensive end.
“I feel like I’m a solid point guard, I can shoot the ball pretty well, and I can drive to the hole and set my teammates up and get the defense off track,” said Pearson. “I can pass the ball pretty well and I’m a floor general. I play hard on defense and can lock guys up, I like to bring the intensity for my team.”
With Modesto Christian this season, Pearson is doing his part to help the team maneuver through a tough schedule.
“The team is doing pretty good right now, we’ve played a lot of tough teams and we’ve been really competitive,” said Pearson. “I think I’m playing pretty solid, playing really hard on defense and getting a lot of steals; offensively I’ve been getting a lot of easy transition buckets and knocking my shots down.”
Pearson will play with Chuck Hayes 17U this spring and summer, and though he’s already seen some recruitment come his way from Santa Clara, San Diego, Montana, Bakersfield, Princeton, Dartmouth, UC Davis and Stanford, he’s hoping to see it materialize into offers.
“I feel like my recruitment has been going pretty well, I’m just ready to show the college coaches what I have and I’m ready to have a lot of fun during the AAU season,” said Pearson.
The Princeton, Dartmouth and Stanford interest is a reflection of his 4.0 GPA and prowess in the classroom.
“I always stay focused and I always stay on top of my work,” said Pearson. “I do really well in the classroom.”
