A 5-foot-10 junior, Martin is a guy who makes things happen when he’s on the floor, whether that’s scoring or facilitating.
“My playing style is that of a playmaker. I am very defensive-minded and consider myself a facilitator. My strengths are my rebounding, physical play and my ability to distribute the ball,” said Martin, who mentioned 3-point shooting and being more of an aggressor on offense are things he’s working to improve.
With the Grizzlies this season, Martin said his role is be assertive on offense and defense, also to be a team leader.
“My role with Spring Valley this season is to play aggressively on both sides of the court and also be a leader on the team. I feel like I have been playing good this season, all of my coach’s feedback has been positive,” said Martin.
Some goals for him? Improve his grades, and his jumper.
“My individual goals for 2019 would be to have a better 3-point shot to become a better player and also to become more fundamentally sound,” said Martin.
“My plans for after this season is taking my ACT getting my GPA better and just becoming a better athlete. I will continue to use AAU to perfect my game and get to play better players across the world.”
Martin mentioned JuCo and Division III interest has been coming his way so far. And with a big second half of his junior season followed by a successful spring and summer, that recruitment could balloon.
“I love basketball, and I’m a very hardworking person I am very competitive and very coachable. Every coach I have played for has told me they enjoyed me as a player. Unlike some players my age, I don’t feel its about me, it’s about the team,” said Martin, who says a free education is the ultimate goal for him.
“My recruitment goals for the next year would be to get any type of offers from any school because at the end of the day, the education is the main goal for me in college.
