Continue ReadingJaamir Butler, a class of 2019 wing from Eleanor Roosevelt, has been an integral factor to his team’s overall success this season. Butler has enjoyed a breakout senior campaign to this point, and it continued on Saturday during a convincing win over Fairmont Heights, where he finished with an efficient 17 points.
“I mean if you haven’t seen Jaamir play, I would have to say it’s a show,” his teammate Cameron Brown told Prep Hoops. “Jaamir’s always been good. We’ve just been giving him the confidence. He’s got a lot more confidence this season, and we’ve just been firing him the ball and making sure he gets his shots.”
Butler says aside from his confidence, the most improved aspects of his overall game are endurance and strength.
“This year I’ve got more energy,” Butler said. “ I don’t get tired after a few minutes.”
As a team, the Raiders have set a couple of specific goals. Obviously, their main goal is to win the state championship, but some of the other goals they’ve set are to try and take four charges a game, and hold teams under 50 points. Like the rest of his teammates, Butler has clearly bought in and the evidence is showcased by their results.
“I hear from a lot of Prep Schools,” said Butler of his recruitment.
What can he bring to the next level?
“Someone who just makes everyone excited to play.”
