Well, it appears that the Rams have arrived maybe a little earlier than anticipated and Deray Seamster has been a big part of the success. The all-around 6-foot-1, 175 combo guard has gotten the job done on both ends for Central Catholic and he’s happy to be playing well after sitting out during the summer.
So far this season for the Rams, Seamster has been one of the offensive mainstays. He’s been able to excel both with the ball and off of it, hitting jumpers and creating by getting to the basket.
“My game has transformed from last year as I wasn’t really a scorer,” Seamster said. “But this year I’m trying to score and get my teammates open a lot more, get a lot more movement on the offensive end, and defend. If we defend we win.”
Seamster didn’t play this past summer due to injury. As a result, not a lot of college coaches have gotten to see him play. He’s opened some eyes so far this season with Central Catholic’s success and he’s hopeful another run on the AAU circuit will be fruitful as well. “Hopefully this summer – I’ll be ready to work,” Seamster said. “Anywhere that will offer me – I’ll play anywhere.”
Central Catholic currently sits atop the Mount Hood Conference and appears to be legit title contender. At the same time, Seamster is not taking anything for granted and still feels he has things to prove.
“We’ve got a lot of talent and we’re ready to work because we want a state championship,” Seamster said. “My main goal is to be first team all-conference and them what I can do because I feel like I’ve been overlooked these last two years. So this year’s a statement year.”
Seamster currently ranks as the #29 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
